As a seasoned e-commerce executive and catalog consultant, Tom Kothman brings hands-on experience, strategic insight and entrepreneurial vision to the challenges facing direct and multi-channel merchants.
He is consulting as Thomas Associates in catalog, e-commerce and direct marketing . He has been in charge of operations and marketing at four multi-channel retailers. Most recently at Tuttle, Inc. since 2008. Through 2007 Tom was President & CEO of Motherwear International, Inc. a specialty women’s apparel e-tailer. Previously he was CEO of Old Glory, where he worked with music luminaries such as Steven Tyler and Aerosmith, and general manager for a boating aftermarket cataloger. Earlier Tom enjoyed a successful career in academic, professional and consumer book, magazine and newspaper publishing with McGraw-Hill, Harper Collins, IDG and International Thomson.
Tom lives on the Connecticut shoreline with his wife and daughter.

While trolling the internet, my daily regimen, I came across your article, “The J. Peterman Mystique”. I am the Director of Marketing/Evangelist for The J. Peterman Company. Thank you for you kind words regarding our efforts at J. Peterman. We thoroughly enjoyed the video clip of Dena Harrison and how she uses our copy to inspire and encourage her students. In many ways our copy is the product on both J. Peterman and Peterman’s Eye.

Peterman’s Black Eye is the real name. Sexton and Peterman the younger had a great idea of discussion on interesting topics.. problem is their chat board which is dominated by the same people day AND NIGHT. 56 members comments mean 56 by a handful of people.. Who are these persons? A clique developed like any Yahoo board where there is a pecking order. Publically they harass new people when one of hte clan finds their ideas too good.. they claim to be experts in everything. It falls into wannabees living a fantasy at others expense.. a family site that sees cyber dancing in cyber biknis on a cyber boat, crowning a cyber QUEEN BEE of the clan and attacking people by using vile crude names regarding womens privates… all this encouraged by Peterman and Sexton. The regulars fancy themselves experts in everything when the site flatters their writings and jealousy abounds when new minds come in and get selected.. Like children..and like children they bully , harass and unlike children from good homes use profanity, It took several complaints to get peterman to honor ther terms of agreement.. an apology privately came about after phone calls of complaints of it being a family board for retail.. Its a shame a great idea of great discussion has been lead to a cheap and tawdry bar in the worst part of town. Peterman refused a public apology. The same nonsense goes on but is now edited if such vularity is used, but it goes on… it has cheapened their wonderful concept.. thats too bad because many will no longer buy from that wonderful catalgue.. Sexton and Peterman do not have the class of his Father. Its now Peterman’s Black EYE
